Society Meeting Rooms
SOCIETY MEETING ROOMS AT THE BUSINESS DESIGN CENTRE DURING STAMPEX
Some good news and some better news.
Until now, the BDC have made meeting rooms available on the Saturday of Stampex, if and when they were not being used. More often than not, they were free for your use, but the ad hoc nature of the arrangement did mean that there was always the risk of the facility being withdrawn, sometimes at short notice. Everyone understood why, but it was never entirely satisfactory.
The good news is that we were offered the chance formerly to rent the rooms ourselves … and have done so …
… thereby guaranteeing in turn, that they are there for you.
We are paying considerably less than the “card rate” of £1,000 a day that the BDC usually charge for each room for a Saturday rental (yes, really!), but the cost is still considerably higher than the total charge we make to the societies. (About four times higher, in fact.)
The better news is that the PTS Committee have voted to pay the cost differential out of PTS funds, so we will not be asking you for any more to hire the rooms than we have in the past. (Of course, if you are flush with funds and wish to volunteer an extra payment, we will gladly accept, but we are not asking for it, nor will we think badly of you if you don’t.)

The seven rooms are each available for three two-hour slots during the day (10.30-12.30, 12.30-2.30 and 2.30-4.30) at a cost of £40 (+ VAT, total £48) for each two-hour slot, on a strict first-come-first-served basis.
